Hello! My name is Jenna Wigsten. I am honored to share that I am partnering with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as an honoree for this year's Rising Stars Program.

As many of you know, my sister Jamie has cystic fibrosis (CF). When Jamie was born in 1991, her future was incredibly uncertain, but my parents never gave up hope that someday science would allow her to live a full and long life. They passed that hope onto my other sister and I, and we started raising money for the foundation and educating our peers about the disease back in elementary school.

Despite an intense daily medical regimen, countless hospitalizations and many challenges along the way, Jamie never gave up her fight — and when a miracle was needed most, the dollars raised through the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fueled a breakthrough medication called Trikafta that not only saved my sister’s life, but gave her a chance to truly live.

While CF will always be with her, she is now a full-time nursing student and a mother to her beloved son Lucas. Trikafta was a saving Grace for our family, but work is still far from over. Many CF patients, who may not have the genetic mutation match for Trikafta, are still waiting for their fighting chance.
