Our family learned about Cystic Fibrosis in 2000 when my younger sister Emily was diagnosed. Our journey with CF has had several ups and downs; we quickly learned how supportive Nationwide Children's and our local CF community would be as our family was introduced to this disease. Emily has never allowed CF to limit her abilities and activities throughout her life. At a young age, she fell in love with cheerleading; she made her high school cheer squad and cheered for the University of Dayton when she went to college. Emily is now 22 and has started a new chapter in her life teaching for Hilliard City Schools. In 2012 a new CF drug came to the market called Kalydeco; luckily Kalydeco was designed for Emily's CF mutation. She was able to start taking Kalydeco in February of 2012 and the effects were immediate. Kalydeco has helped Emily remain in good health and has allowed her to continue to live the active lifestyle she always wanted. Your donations for this event as well as other CF functions will go toward the expansion of additional medications such as Kalydeco; to help the rest of the CF population find a cure.
Thank you for all of your support!
