I am honored, and a bit humbled, to be recognized by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at a special event celebrating outstanding professionals in our community. As part of accepting this recognition, I have committed to raising funds to help advance the Foundation's mission: to cure cystic fibrosis (CF) and ensure that every person living with CF has the opportunity to lead a long, healthy, and fulfilling life.

For the past decade, I have had the privilege of working with adults living with cystic fibrosis at the Marie and Raymond Beauregard Adult CF Center at Hartford Hospital.
During that time, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges this genetic disease places on individuals and their families. Children born with CF in the 1950s often did not survive long enough to reach grade school. Today, more than 60% of people living with CF are adults, pursuing higher education, building careers, getting married, and raising families of their own.

I have also been fortunate enough to witness a remarkable breakthrough in the fight against CF. In late 2019, a groundbreaking new treatment became available for people with certain CF genetic mutations. While it is not a cure, it has transformed what is possible for many people living with CF, dramatically improving both quality of life and life expectancy.

But there is still work to be done.

Not everyone responds to these therapies in the same way, and approximately 10% of people with CF still do not have access to an effective CFTR modulator treatment.
The extraordinary progress we have seen would not have been possible without the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and its unwavering commitment to research. That commitment began in 1955 with a group of determined parents who refused to accept the status quo and set out to create a better future for their children and for generations to come.

Over the last ten years, I have had the privilege of meeting some of the strongest, most resilient, and most inspiring people I have ever known. I have laughed with them, cried with them, celebrated their victories, and, sadly, witnessed too many young lives cut short by this disease.

So today, I am asking for your support.

If you are able, please consider making a donation to my campaign or purchasing a ticket to the event on September 24. Every contribution helps the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fund critical research, develop new treatments, and move us closer to the one thing that people with CF and their families still need most:

A Cure.

Thank you for considering supporting a cause that means so much to me, both professionally and personally.
With gratitude,

Josh
