Investing in Hope. Advancing a Cure. Changing the Future for Families Living with Cystic Fibrosis.

Two years ago, close friends of mine welcomed their newborn son into the world. What should have been a season filled only with excitement quickly became something else when he was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF).

Like many families facing a serious diagnosis, they were suddenly thrust into a world of uncertainty, specialists, treatments, and questions no new parent expects to ask. What stood out was how quickly the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation stepped in. Through its network, they were connected with world-class physicians, groundbreaking research, and a community of support that helped transform fear into hope.

Their story opened my eyes to the incredible impact of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Not long ago, a child born with CF faced a dramatically different future. In the 1970s, the median predicted survival age for individuals with CF was only about 17 years. By the 1990s, it had improved into the low 30s. Today, because of decades of research, advocacy, innovation, and philanthropy, children born with CF are predicted to live well into their 60s, with current Cystic Fibrosis Foundation data showing a median predicted survival age of 66 years for children born between 2021 and 2025.

That progress did not happen by accident.

It happened because researchers refused to stop searching for answers. It happened because physicians continued pushing the boundaries of treatment. It happened because donors invested in a future they might never personally see. And it happened because organizations like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation remained relentless in their pursuit of better therapies and, ultimately, a cure.

Today, more individuals with CF are living longer, healthier, and fuller lives than ever before. Breakthrough therapies have transformed what was once considered a childhood disease into a condition where many people are pursuing careers, raising families, and achieving milestones that previous generations never had the opportunity to reach.

Yet the mission is far from complete.

Too many individuals with CF still face significant daily challenges. Not every patient benefits from the latest therapies. And despite incredible progress, there is still no cure.

That is why I am proud to participate in the DFW's Finest Campaign in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

I am asking for your support, not simply as a donation, but as an investment in the next breakthrough. An investment in continued research. An investment in life-changing medications. An investment in the scientists, physicians, and advocates working tirelessly toward a future where cystic fibrosis no longer exists.

Most importantly, it is an investment in children like my friend's son, whose future today looks brighter because previous generations chose to act.

Together, we can help ensure that progress continues until every family receives the words they deserve to hear: A cure has been found.
