This year, I have been honored to be named one of Harrisburg’s Finest for 2024 by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This recognition is not just a personal achievement, but a testament to the incredible support I have received from you, my family and friends.
This honor is very special to me because CFF’s lifesaving research has kept my coworker and friend, Laura, alive and in my life.
Laura was diagnosed with CF at birth and given a very grim prognosis. As a newborn, she underwent numerous dangerous surgeries and as a young child, she spent weeks on end in the hospital.
She wasn’t supposed to live past 16.
However, due to the millions of dollars raised for research by the CF Foundation, two new groundbreaking drugs were developed and because of them, my friend, Laura, is 32 years old and the healthiest she’s been in years.
This year, I have committed to raising at least $2,000 to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. They are determined to raise $2.2 billion dollars to pay for the drug research necessary to finding a cure in the next 5 years.
I am reaching out to you for help.
Please join me in this effort to make a difference. Your contribution will directly support the services provided by CFF. Sponsorships, company matches, and individual donations help bring us closer to finding a cure.
Thank you for your continued support.
Nearly 40,000 people in the United States have cystic fibrosis: a progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. Sixty years ago, children with CF usually did not live long enough to attend elementary school. Today, because of Foundation-supported research and care, the median survival age of people with CF is over 50. Working alongside the CF community, the CF Foundation has fostered the development of more than a dozen CF treatments and helped add decades of life for people with CF. Yet, many people with CF do not benefit from existing therapies. Our vision is a cure for every person with cystic fibrosis – a life free from the burden of this disease – and we will not leave anyone behind.
