Symptoms for cystic fibrosis can show up early. The disease is most commonly diagnosed at the age of 2. That means at age 2, your parents are looking at you eating your Cheerios and watching one of the many annoying kiddy cartoons on tv today and then looking over at their google search where they read “The average life span for people with CF who live to adulthood is about 37 years...”

There is no cure for Cystic fibrosis, which means on top of struggles that come with life - school, puberty, heart ache, work - you are also trying your best to survive and beat statistics like the before-mentioned.

A friend of mine with the disease recently shared with me that when he was born, life expectancy was 8. He’s 37 now. With the help of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, stories like his are more common today.

I will soon be honored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at a special event recognizing outstanding young professionals in my community. In accepting this distinction, I have committed to raise money to help the Foundation realize its mission of controlling and curing cystic fibrosis (CF). Please consider showing support to this very worthy cause. Any amount is very much appreciated by me and the CF community.
