This year I am being honored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at a special event recognizing outstanding professionals in my community. By accepting this distinction, I have committed to raise money to help the Foundation realize its mission of curing cystic fibrosis (CF) and providing all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives. When you donate you're becoming part of a real, living story of medical progress. Sixty years ago, children with cystic fibrosis rarely lived long enough to start school. Today, thanks to Foundation-funded research, the median survival age is over 50. That's decades of life added, birthdays, milestones, and moments that almost weren't possible.

Right now, nearly 40,000 people in the United States are living with CF, a progressive genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. And while the breakthroughs have been remarkable, too many people still don't benefit from the treatments that exist. The Foundation's goal is a cure for every person with CF, no one left behind.
