Hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I am delighted to share that I was selected as one of Nashville’s Top 30 Under 30 young professionals for 2025. This is a huge honor for me as a Nashville native. In accepting this distinction, I have committed to raise money to help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation realize its mission of curing cystic fibrosis (CF) and providing all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives.
For those unfamiliar, CF is a progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. CF affects the cells in these organs that produce mucus and digestive enzymes. It causes these fluids to become thick and sticky, which blocks passageways making it difficult to breathe and absorb nutrients. This is especially challenging for young children’s growth and development, as most people are diagnosed by age 2. As a Pediatric Social Worker at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, I am familiar with the struggles that patients and families affected by CF often have. The disease impacts the entire family system, as it requires a daily commitment to medical intervention and care.
Nearly 40,000 children and adults are diagnosed with CF in the United States. Sixty years ago, children with CF usually did not live long enough to attend elementary school. Today, because of Foundation-supported research and care, the median survival age is over 50. Yet, there are still CF patients that do not benefit from existing therapies. Therefore, the CF Foundation continues to work to find a cure so that every person with CF can live a life free from the burden of the disease.
