This recognition is not just an award, but a profound reminder of the urgent need to continue the fight against cystic fibrosis (CF), a disease that has impacted so many lives.
 

In accepting this distinction, I have made a commitment to raise funds to support the Foundation’s mission. The dream of curing CF and giving every person with this disease the chance to lead a long, fulfilling life is within our reach, but we cannot do it alone.

Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that affects nearly 40,000 people in the United States, attacking the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. Sixty years ago, the life expectancy for children with CF was so short that many didn’t live to see their first day of school. Thanks to the incredible work supported by the CF Foundation, today, the median survival age has risen to over 50 years. This is nothing short of miraculous, but we cannot stop now. There are still many who do not benefit from current therapies, and for them, the struggle continues every day.
