As a past attendee of "Arizona’s Finest," I’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact that fundraisers for cystic fibrosis (CF) can have on the lives of those affected by this disease and am proud to be a nominee this year. Staying active through sports has taught me how important it is to breathe easily and feel strong. It’s something I often take for granted, but for people with CF, even something as basic as breathing can be a daily challenge.

That’s why I’m so passionate about supporting the CF community. I understand how much a healthy, functioning body can impact quality of life, and I’m proud to be part of an effort that works to make that a reality for those with CF. Through my involvement with "Arizona’s Finest," I’ve learned just how powerful it is when a community comes together to support a common goal.

Nearly 40,000 people in the United States have cystic fibrosis: a progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. Sixty years ago, children with CF usually did not live long enough to attend elementary school. Today, because of Foundation-supported research and care, the median survival age of people with CF is over 50. Working alongside the CF community, the CF Foundation has fostered the development of more than a dozen CF treatments and helped add decades of life for people with CF. Yet, many people with CF do not benefit from existing therapies. Our vision is a cure for every person with cystic fibrosis – a life free from the burden of this disease – and we will not leave anyone behind.
