Happy Hour for Heroes LA

I am thrilled to announce the details of the 3rd Annual Happy Hour for Heroes charity event in Los Angeles.

The Story

This event is in memory of my father, James Patrick Berger, who was a senior leader at Aon (where I now work) when he was killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. He ensured as many of his colleagues as possible made it home from the South Tower of the World Trade Center by ushering them to safety. He lost his own life performing one final sweep of the floor. He is credited with saving 156 lives. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of him or miss him. I have the best guardian angel I could have asked for. My father is an American Hero.

During his lifetime, my father was a passionate advocate for raising funds to support Cystic Fibrosis (CF) research. Cystic Fibrosis is a rare genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs, causing the build-up of thick, sticky mucus that makes it difficult to breathe and leads to recurrent lung infections. It can also impact other organs such as the pancreas, liver, and intestines. My two cousins, Ryan and Meghan Berger, live with CF every day. They are two of the strongest people that I know. It is an honor and a privilege to pick up the torch that my father has left behind.

The Event

The event will take place on Thursday, October 24 from 5:30 p.m-8:30 p.m. PST at Karl Strauss Brewing Company in Downtown LA.

Food and drink will be provided, courtesy of our generous corporate sponsors. You will be able to donate directly on our website during the event. There is on donation minimum but a contribution from everyone partaking in food and drink is strongly encouraged. We will have event merchandise for purchase and a silent auction, all the proceeds of which will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

We appreciate every contribution, whether you can attend the event or not. I work hard to ensure the evening is a remarkable one, commemorating those we lost on 9/11 how they would want us to remember them: with a smile. All while raising money for a cause that is dear to my heart.

I would like to thank Karl Strauss and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for making this year’s event possible.

Together, let’s change CF from Cystic Fibrosis to Cure Found.
