My name is Liz and I am taking part in Rochester’s Finest, a program created to recognize outstanding professionals in my community. I am honored to be recognized and by accepting this distinction, I have committed to raise money to help the Foundation realize its mission of curing cystic fibrosis (CF) and providing all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives.

Please help me raise my fundraising goal by donating through my “Passion Campaign”, the Forever Flowers Coloring Book! As an art lover since childhood, I was inspired to create a hand drawn coloring book, both to raise money for CF,  and to give to children with CF. The book includes flowers to color and then put together into a bouquet at the end to keep or gift. 

Individuals with Cystic Fibrosis have to receive daily treatment to clear their airways of thick, sticky mucus that can make them sick. This often includes wearing a vest that vibrates the chest to help loosen and thin mucus. This treatment is often done 1-2 times a day and for 20-30 minutes. As you can imagine, it may be hard to get a child to sit for this long. I hope that my coloring book will help children with CF pass the time as they receive their treatment.

Nearly 40,000 people in the United States have cystic fibrosis: a progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. Sixty years ago, children with CF usually did not live long enough to attend elementary school. Today, because of Foundation-supported research and care, the median survival age of people with CF is over 50. Working alongside the CF community, the CF Foundation has fostered the development of more than a dozen CF treatments and helped add decades of life for people with CF. Yet, many people with CF do not benefit from existing therapies. Our vision is a cure for every person with cystic fibrosis – a life free from the burden of this disease – and we will not leave anyone behind.
