I am truly honored to be a part of the Capital City's Finest this year benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This cause holds a special place in my heart as this foundation's work is the reason I was blessed to meet the love of my life, Ashley. I am excited for the opportunity to raise money to help support the CF foundation's mission of finding a cure for CF and providing all people with CF the opportunity to lead long and fulfilling lives.

I had never heard of Cystic Fibrosis until I started dating my wife when she told me she has CF. She was diagnosed at 3 years old where the life expectancy was less than 25 years old. We got married last year right before her 27th birthday. Today, because of Foundation-supported research and care, the median survival age of people with CF is over 50.

Nearly 40,000 people in the United States have cystic fibrosis: a progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. Sixty years ago, children with CF usually did not live long enough to attend elementary school. Working alongside the CF community, the CF Foundation has fostered the development of more than a dozen CF treatments and helped add decades of life for people with CF. Yet, many people with CF do not benefit from existing therapies. Our vision is a cure for every person with cystic fibrosis - a life free from the burden of this disease - and we will not leave anyone behind.
