The normality I developed underneath my cystic fibrosis diagnosis, is a continuous part of me I’ve grown accustomed to. Nevertheless, being hooked to an IV machine, bedridden, and consuming numerous supplements daily, is a lifestyle I will never wish upon anyone. With this, the ambitious, boundless drive that the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation possesses, moves me. I hold strong hope for the future, that one day CF will stand for CURE FOUND! It is an honor to be recognized as a Youth STANDOUT Honoree by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Despite being young, I strive to be a leader and make a difference. I hold faith that my actions, yet small, can induce the long-awaited cure.
The STANDOUT Gala on November 12th is an opportunity to celebrate people who are creating positive change, giving back to others, and helping build stronger communities. I am excited to be recognized for my involvement with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the impact I strive to make both within and beyond the CF community.
Cystic fibrosis is a progressive genetic disease that affects nearly 40,000 people in the United States. While incredible advances have been made, there is still important work to do to ensure that every person with CF has access to life-changing treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
